The 'Rouse House', a Mid-Century Modern home designed by architect King-lui Wu in 1952. The house, a classic 'Harvard Box', is the embodiment of Wu's architectural training at Harvard under Walter Gropius. Post and beam construction incorporates large volumes of glass. Natural materials are used throughout: Cypress vertical board and batten siding, Maple and slate floors and beautiful Cedar ceilings.

Wu collaborated with Yale colleague, former Bauhaus instructor Josef Albers, on the sculptural living room brick fireplace, featured in an exhibit of Albers' work at the Cooper Hewitt Museum of Design in 2005. Wu?s work has been published in Architectural Review, Perspecta, Architectural Record and the German journal Werk. The restoration of the house was recently published in the New Haven Register.

The house is sited on an acre plus wooded lot in an area of rolling hills in the town of North Haven, an affluent suburb of New Haven, CT. Architectural plans and documentation included.
