Alson Clark Studio and Residence - An urban compound with a historic Monterrey Colonial Revival structure and a 1956 Modernist home on a sizable arroyo-front lot with views of the Rose Bowl, Linda Vista, and Sacred Heart Academy. Thoughtfully renovated in 2007 by Film Director Zack Snyder (300, Watchman) and local designer/builder Thomas Havel, the structures are in fine order and well suited for contemporary living. The open plan mid-century modern structure features extensive use of poured concrete, copper and the original arched redwood support beams. A saltwater pool connects master bathroom with the outdoors. The original Alson Clark Studio with its period features and quality built-ins features its own bedroom, bath and screening room. A rare combination, to be sure. Extensive slope stabilization completed by City of Pasadena in 2010.
